Ovivo has completed the installation of its 2,500^th Jeta® Grit Trap* - which is designed to achieve the highest possible industry standard grit removal performance; 95% removal of grit particles (0:2mm and above/2.65 specific gravity).

Located in the mainstream of the inlet system, Ovivo’s compact and circular Jeta Grit Trap includes a bridge (cast-in situ), whilst the impeller drive mechanism (located on the bridge) can be belt or gear-driven. A centrally-mounted airlift pump reaches to the hopper bottom of the tank and delivers the grit/water mixture to the separately mounted Jones & Attwood Screw Classifier.

Effluent enters at a tangent, then flows around the tank before exiting parallel to the inlet. Grit settles within the lower hopper until it is pumped to the washing, classification and dewatering plant.

Available in standard units from 50 litres per second to 2000 litres per second (and custom-built up to 5,000 litres per second), the Jeta Grit Trap benefits from sloping sides and a specially configured impeller. The tank provides maximum separation of heavy mineral solids (grit), whilst rejecting the light solids that remain in the water flow.

Installed at wastewater sites for every UK water company, (including over 100 for one water company alone), the Jeta Grit Trap significantly prevents wear on pumps and also helps improve the efficiency of processes and digestion plants.

*Called the Jeta since 1986, the original grit trap was launched in 1966 when it was known as the Jones & Attwood Pista trap, selling over 800 units.
