Now in its 16th year, the conference continues to attract the most authoritative experts in the area of biosolids and organic resources.
The purpose-designed Amtreat process provides a compact, highly-efficient means of treating high-strength ammonia liquors, enabling full nitrification of effluents with ammonia removal rates in excess of 97%. Based on the activated sludge process, Amtreat is easy to operate and control, and uses industry-standard equipment and instrumentation.
The project that will be presented at the conference is an ACWA Services installation at Southern Water’s Ashford sludge treatment centre. The Amtreat system replaced an old SBR plant and treats liquors from the pre-digestion thickening process, post-digestion dewatering and condensate from the sludge drying plant. Mr Bungay will discuss the operation of the plant since its commissioning to the present day in his paper.
The plant is configured for nitrification, denitrification and alkalinity recovery, as well as final settlement for solids removal. The process has global application where a small footprint, high efficiency removal process for strong ammonia wastewaters is required.
The conference, organised by technology transfer event specialist Aqua Enviro, is the foremost event for the biosolids and biowaste industries. Proceedings from previous events now form a reference point to trace the development of many mainstream processes from concept to full-scale operation.
The 16th European Biosolids and Organic Resources Conference will be held from 14 to 16 November 2011 at The Royal Armouries, Leeds.
